Preparing for your spray tan

Fake tanTop tips to get the best from your spray tan:

  1. The day before you should remove dead skin cells by doing a full body exfoliation. I can provide a exfoliating body polish by Sienna X if required.
  2. The day before you should shave/wax. This gives time for pores to close, this prevents tanning solution sitting in the open pores and making dots.
  3. Do not apply deodorants or perfumes as these can prevent the absorption of the tanning solution.
Any traces of deodorants and perfumes should be removed before the tan is applied, preferably with water and a flannel.
  4. Do not use moisturisers on the day of your tan as they can act as a barrier to the solution.
  5. Do apply nail polish to your nails as the tanning procedure may discolour your nails.

Your treatment session

On your first tanning session, I complete a consultation form which I will be able to refer to on future appointments. Any information is stored in strict accordance with the data protection act and is never shared with any third parties.

We apply a barrier cream to your hands and feet and any areas to prevent them from tanning too much. You will then remove your clothing and jewellery, leaving on what you feel comfortable in. We recommend wearing dark underwear such as a thong or bikini bottoms. The spraying takes place in a pop-up cubicle to ensure spray goes on you and not everywhere else. We provide a hair cap and mask if required.

The spraying process takes about 10-15 minutes to complete, plus a few minutes to dry.

The spray product consists of the agent which makes you tan and a guide colour which enables me to see where I've sprayed. The tan will develop over about 8 hours. The guide colour will wash off during your first shower.

After your treatment

The tan develops over a period of about 8 hours - so don't shower for the first 8 hours or your tan will not fully develop.

For the first 8 hours wear loose, dark clothing. The tan will wash out of most clothes but may stain lighter materials. Tight clothing may produce rub marks causing lighter areas to appear. Also avoid shoes and socks if possible and wear flip-flops.

Perspiration can wash off the tanning solution, so avoid anything too strenuous during the developing time.

To preserve your tan as long as possible

Your tan will normally last from 5-7 days. For a deeper colour you can book a top-up tan 2-4 days after your 1st treatment.

Chlorine will fade the tan quicker so try to avoid swimming.

After showers of baths pat yourself dry don't rub.

Keeping your skin moisturised is the most important thing you can do. Moisturise every day.

Now just sit back, relax and look good!
